We help you understand your symptoms, follow a personalized plan, and return safely to daily life โ€” with expert guidance and support from those around you.

Heads is developed in collaboration with healthcare professionals, researchers, and people with lived experience. Our goal is to make high-quality concussion recovery support accessible to everyone.

Your Data and How We Use It

What data do we collect?

To support your recovery and improve your experience with the app, we may collect:

  • Age, gender, height, weight, country, education level, work status and weekly work hours
  • Previous activity level and sports before your concussion
  • Date and cause of concussion, number of previous concussions
  • Current symptoms and treatments
  • Symptom progress and entries in the app
  • App usage data (how often and which features are used)

Why do we collect this data?

We use your information to:

  • Provide relevant content and support during recovery
  • Track symptom progress and adapt your plan
  • Improve the app based on anonymized usage patterns

Your personal data is never shared or sold to third parties.

Where and how your data is stored

Storage location

  • Securely on your device
  • On encrypted servers within the EU (AWS, Frankfurt)

AWS complies with GDPR and applies strict security protocols.

Data security

We recommend enabling secure access to your device (e.g. password, fingerprint, or face recognition).
We take all reasonable steps to protect your information.

Consent and your rights

By using Heads, you consent to:

  • Collection of the information listed above
  • Anonymous app usage data for improvement

You can withdraw your consent at any time

To stop data processing, you can delete the app or contact us directly.
Without consent, the app will no longer function.

Data retention and deletion

  • Personal data is deleted no later than 2 years after last activity
  • Financial data (e.g. billing history) is stored for 5 years in line with legal requirements
  • Data may be kept longer if necessary to meet legal obligations or defend legal claims

Data used for analysis is anonymized and aggregated.
